stat attachments

I have been told that clothing stat attachments say, to enhance luck stat or stamina etc, are looted items.As a tailor I do not see any form of attachments that can be added to socketted items. Is this true that they are looted items? and if so what would I be looking for on vendors to purchase some? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The attachments that you are referring to are called SEAs. They are made by re-engineering certain combinations of junk loot. (I'm sure someone with mor skill than me will be able to guide you to one of the guides on the forum that will spell this out in very easy language.)

You will have to have a piece of clothing, a shirt for example, that you craft as a tailor with a socket available. Then you get the completed SEA and insert it into the socket. (Yes, I know, this is the basic version of what happens, but I'm a chef, not a tailor, dammit!) :mrgreen: star TREK shout out :mrgreen:

Looted wearable (clothes and armor) items with stats are reversed engieered by a so skilled trader to finally, after many tiresome iterations, become a power bit.

Two different looted junk items (mainly "electronic stuff") are reversed engineered into modifier bits.

The power bits and the modifier bits are fused to become a SEA or a PUP.

More on this in Reverse Engineering 101.

However, any looted item with with mods on can be used as-is. Jewelry, for example, is very useful since it cannot be crafted with sockets to take your favorite mods.

Pre NGE, SEAs did drop as loot. The only ones that are still good are the crafting skill modifiers: Assembly and Experimentation. If you have a "Crafting Suit" from pre NGE days it will still work, and can be combined with "new" SEAs made by the new RE process.
