Proposed changes to chef that are on test center currently

Post by Onyx » Mon Jul 09, 2007 9:59 pm

Food and Drink:
  • --All foods and drinks will now overwrite each other to allow you to quickly switch between which food buffs you wish to be active at the time
--The following food buff effects have been updated:
    • Travel Biscuit: Adds agility and run speed boost
Accarragm: Adds sgility and run speed boost
Flameout: Adds constitution, strikethrough chance, and strikethrough value
Breath of Heaven: Adds constitution and dodge chance
Thaktillo: Adds constitution and parry chance
Vercupti of Agazza Boleruuee: Adds constitution, evasion chance, and evasion value
Deneelian Fizz Pudding: Adds constitution, block chance, and block value
Trader: Domestic Goods

  • --Removed mention of any specific effects from static food descriptions; these are covered in the "effects" examine information
--Removed references in food descriptions to effects that no longer apply
--Altered text description of Fitness Drink to reflect what it really buffs
--Pastebread has been removed as a subcomponent from the Cavaellin Creams draft schematic
This basically removes filling from the game as well as changes what some of our best-selling food does.

Please read and respond in the dev thread to the proposal I have put forth. That proposal is found here:

posted a QFE on what you did on the officail Forums, well thought out. BTW I agree 100% and always have about buff stacking and filling/stomach timer.

Ummm, you do realize Onyx posted that 2 years ago, right? The current changes have nothing to do with this post.

Oh, there are many changes for chef, lol. Off my spreadsheet....
Ahrisa will be poison absorption & poison resist instead of stamina
Durindfire will take fungi and flower frit instead of gemstone and gas
Garrmorl will take rice and flower fruit instead of hide and bone
Ithorian Mist will be fire absoption and fire resist instead of precision and constitution
Rancor aid will be snare resist instead of movement bonus and electrolyte drain
T'illa T'ill will take beans, wild corn and tubers instead of gas, gas and more gas
Veronian Berry Wine will be bleeding absorption and bleeding resist instead of agility and constitution

BUT, the best one....

Starshine Surprise will take fruit instead of gas and increase the amount of Milk you get when milking, increase the chance for exceptional milk, and give you a Paralyze Beast chance.

Hmmm, that all looks like good changes to me, are Chefs really upset and threatening to quit over this?

I think the controversy stems from the duration changes. I've read posts ranging from foods lasting anywhere from 30m to 2h. Then they discussed stacking durations. Then the "greedy chefs" name calling and finger pointed starting. So on and so forth.

Yeah, the outraged people seemed to be non-actively participating in chef-business, or PVPers who didn't understand what the chefs were trying to say. They could just see the longer duration and think 'wow, I can buff twice as long for the same cost now'. At least that's what I came away from reading the arguments. But I'm biased, so take it with a grain of salt.

They are also taking barrels out of the game as a craftable, so any decorators out there, better get your custom named barrel now, because the only things that are going to use that skin are the new 'barn lite' whatever it's called, which is one per house, and the 'creature habitats' which can't be renamed.

I'm going to do a factory run with no name at all, and hopefully I'll have time for a run named 'corellian ale' as well as one for my IC husband 'Wheylan's Reserve' though I know I have that spelled wrong.

Do we have a 'final' confirmation of the changes that are due out this GU? I think I like the changes. Without the Barrel I don't have to rely on others for the components.
