There is no specific locations. The only thing you can do is drive around the planet that has the resources you want looking for a good spawn that isn't taken.

I can chime in and explain a little further, beyond what is written in the Beginners Guide for Traders that is one of the stickied threads.

Resources spawn and deplete all the time, with a lifespan of 6 to 22 days. Constantly watching out for new spawns and potential greater stats on the resources than we already have on stock is kind of a mini game in the game.

When a resource spawns there are several random details such as:
  • Which planet or planets
  • How many hot spots
  • Location of the hot spots
  • Top concentration of each hot spot
Since these are all random we have another mini game in the game, to find a great hot spot :)

My personal strategy:
Start out somewhere and drive against a goal, follow the higher concentrations, back on the initial track if the side track was a dead end. If you hit the glass wall in the end of the world, move up/down/sideway 1000 meters or so and go back in parallel with the first track. Another few forth and back and you have possibly found a great spot.

Initially, as a Novice Trader this is tedious since your tool only allows for a small range. Remember to increase the range on the tool when you get the skill for that, 320 meters radius is maximum. However, even though it is tedious and a bit cumbersome, it gives a great understanding of how everything works.

My personal advice is, read ahead on which schematics you think you will be interested in next and keep a penciled list on what to watch out for. Constantly lacking resources for the schematics you just learned ain't fun, keeping ahead is great :)
