A Question on Resources

Post by swgldy » Fri Feb 26, 2010 1:12 pm

When determining the best resource for a schematic, I'm still slightly confused. Let's say that a schematic calls for Amorphous Gemstone with a required stat of HR and DR. The caps on these are 1000 each. Let's say I have Regvis Amorphous Gemstone which caps at HR 732 and DR 331 and the stats on my gemstones are HR 684 DR 308. Could I use this resource, or should I find a resource with a higher cap and stats?

The caps on the specific kind of Amorphous Gemstone you use does not matter; it is the cap of the resource type called for that matters (In this case Amorphous Gemstone): http://www.swgcraft.org/forums/viewtopi ... 1651#p1651, scroll down to Resource Caps

Welcome around swgldy, I notice I have not welcomed you before but better late than never :)

Regarding your question, Sobuno's reply is 100% correct, but you may want to read the Beginners Guide for Traders that is one of the stickied threads in this forum. Your question is specifically dealt with in chapter 8, the biggest chapter in the guide, guess why? 8)

Thank you. I did read it, but I still had a little trouble grasping the overall concept (I'm really not blond). I quit playing for about a year and am only recently getting back into the game. I never had to deal with HQ resources before since all I ever made was furniture.

Yeah, I know, red-heads have to read twice, blonds a hundred 8)

j/k, the guide is not really meant as a one time read, rather as a lookup when needed. Many of the question marks from the first read will definitely straighten out when doing the stuff in-game and reading it again.

Have a look at the repeated example and how it evolves when you add another concept or two to the mix.

When I see the username swgldy, I have this sudden urge to break out into an old Kenny Rogers song

but that would be terribly inappropriate and perhaps just a little bit creepy.
