this is a repost from one I did on SWGCraft.com which I got off the LucasForums many moons ago. I havnt played a Jedi in while so, Please, if there are errors, please let me know so that I can get it fixed.

Hello All,

Figured it would be a good idea to throw together a FAQ for the new Jedi out there. Let's not turn this into a 'Let's Bash the Respec Jedi' thread, but let's try and be helpful to the younglings.

Q) Where do I get my Padawan Robes?
A) Go to a Force Shrine, Kneel infront of it, click the radial menu and there should be an option to retrieve the robe.
these robes are set to the old standards and look identical to the ones you get off Tansarii station. gret deco item, though.

Q) Where do I get a LightSaber Crafting Tool?
A) Use a Generic Crafting Tool and the proper resorces to make one, or buy one from a vendor

Q) Where do I get a Lightsaber?
A) After you aquire a Lightsaber Crafting Tool, obtain the proper resources and make one

Note: Ive noticed the listing for creating a LS can be seen in a General Crafting Kit, but I wonder if the quality of the saber will be the same

B) you also get a "training" saber after completing one of the quests from the second wheel item(i believe...that and a color crystal)

Q) Does my Combat Level impact tunes?
A) In the old system, no.
From what Ive read, nothing influences tunes. I have heard of some strange thoughts on the matter, though.

Q)Where can I get color crystals or damage crystals (Need to keep this updated)

A) Nope you have to loot them.

Q) How do I get my 'Elder Jedi' rewards?
A) You had to have been a Jedi before the NGE and you will receive a quest from Obi-Wan after you have respeced, which will lead you to his house on Tatooine. You do NOT need the Obi-Wan Expansion for this.

Q)What Robes are there for the 'Elder Jedi'
A)
Opressor Robe - Dark Jedi
Arbitor Robe - Light Jedi

Q) Are the 'Elder Robes' faction Specific?
A) They are not faction specific.

Q) Do I get any of the Jedi rewards that are listed in the profession wheel if I respec?
A) you get all profession rewards when you spec to any profession now.

Q) How do I get the Radial Menu to show up?
A) Hover your mouse over (or click on) the shrine and use the ~ (usually to the left of the number 1 key) to get your radial menu to come up. Thanks Cy-Tracker!

Introduction
After more than a year, the developers have finally made good on their promise to give Jedi Robes protection that replaces armor.
As there are now many different forms of robes and cloaks with all different traits, it could be a little confusing which robe or cloak to go for. Therefore I have decided to write up all the details to guide Jedi to their choice of optimal protection, stats and looks in the form of Jedi Robes and Cloaks that are the most suitable for their individual style and needs.

Jedi Robes
Jedi Robes repesent the traditional, modest uniforms of the Jedi Order that are also being used by force-sensitive splinter groups like the Sith. Like the former, they are made of a special, robust and at the same time light material which provides ideal protection for the Jedi.
They are full body suits that occupy most clothing slots on the character, except the gloves, belt, necklace, wristband and hat slot (except the two Elder Jedi robes, which also take up the hat slot). For example, no backpack, bandolier or cloak can be worn when they are equipped.
There are no race or gender restrictions for wearing Jedi Robes, although the boots will be invisible on Trandoshan characters.

Jedi Cloaks
At least as traditional and spread out like Jedi robes are the cloaks of the Jedi. Like the former, they are made of special, robust and at the same time light materials, which provides the ideal protection from weather effects for the Jedi. They are also used as a means to keep a low profile and vanish in the crowd if necessary.
Jedi cloaks occupy only the cloak slot of the character (except the hood-up variants, which take up the hat slot as well). It is therefore possible to wear everything you can wear with a regular cloak, including a backpack. They cannot be worn over Jedi Robes, because of the Robe's clothing slot restricitions.
There are no species or gender restrictions for wearing Jedi Cloaks, although they are invisible when worn by Wookiees or Ithorians, but still provide full protection and modifiers.

Armor Rating
The Armor rating is a variable in a formula that is used to calculate the percentage of the damage of a hit which is aborbed by the armor.

Formula: PR = (AR/10,000)*60 + ((10,000-AR)/10,000)*(AR/200)
Reduced Formula: PR = 0.011*AR - (5*10^-7) * AR^2
PR...Percentile Resists
AR...Armor Rating

Results:
0 = 0.0%
1400 = 14.4%
3000 = 28.5%
4000 = 36.0%
4500 = 39.4%
5000 = 42.5%
5600 = 45.9%
6500 = 50.4%


Notes:


Clothing modifiers are currently capped at 25, so everything above 25 does not apply, although it still shows correctly in the character sheet. This prevents the Jedi robes and cloaks to gain their maximal bonus from modifiers. This hard cap on clothing modifiers is slated to be removed for post-NGE modifiers with publish 27.

Just a quick note on crystals:

Premium crystals tune up to 17/18. So they are mostly like pearls -1. :)

This hilt is a loot item from "the Hand of the Emporor" found in Restuss. In order to recieve this hilt, you can NOT loot like normal, so turn off your macros. To recieve a one time use schematic to learn to craft one of these sabers you MUST use the radial menu, and select the option to obtain the schematic. It will then appear in your inventory. You then learn it and craft like normal. Its a nice saber!!! This is the one i made. It contains 3 18/19 pearls and one 19/20, and the elder crystal .....

its a shame you didnt make it preChap5 when you could get a resource bonus by getting a weaponsmith buff from an entertainer. Im not sure if they added that back in for Jedi since the resource bonus is now contained in the expertise of the crafters. they need to, though.

Ill have to look in my bank for what mine turned out to be. I have two 18/19 and two 16/17 (or something like that) and Sunridders.

I didnt even think about a resource bonus, i may need to check into that and get another schematic and try again. I wasnt too worried about it since i had access to the best resources on the server and a 12 point saber crafting suit. I maxed out the experimentation at 96% with 3 points to spare. I probably could have gotten 99% with a resource bonus if they still exist ...

Newly crafted hilts now can come with Sockets. i hear this is based on your Saber Assembly score.

Perhaps an acting Jedi could verify some of this as "in practice."

I have assembled the server best resources for each hilt (jinsu and old republic) and will make one of each as soon as i get the schems and will post my results

I done the same on Ahazi... though I had the resources and schems ready, just waiting for Sabers to get a boost :D. I'll edit this with my results in a few hours (I need to log on).

Basically though the functional difference in the sabers is the ORH gives a +75 strength bonus, while the Jinsu has +4% damage over the ORH. Every one I've crafted (4 so far) has had sockets in them. Exact numbers though will have to wait a little bit, until I can log in and take a look.

Sorry it took so long but here are some stats:

All base stats (no crystals) with server cap resources.
4th generation: 892 DPS
ORH: 991 DPS + 75 strength
Jinsu: 1032 DPS
Juyo: 1047 with +5 constitution and strength
