Weaponsmith problems

I have been trying to get my weaponsmith to the point that he can make capped (or close to it) weapons but even though my resource quality has improved my weapons dps hasn't and I cannot figure out why.



As an example I have been trying to test improvement by making Alliance Needler Carbines.
Experimentation points: 13
Drink: Bespin: +24.41
City: Research Center

Kammris Iron: OQ-995 SR-1000 (99.67%)
Duralloy Steel: OQ-981 SR-962 (97.43%)
Polymer: OQ-986 SR-962 (97.80%)
Scope: Max-1.0% Min-0.73%
Stock: Max-1.0% Min-0.73%
Advanced Blaster Barrel: Max-1.5% Min-1.16%
Advanced range Weapon Core:
Max-100% Min-77.01%
Gas Damage: Max-1.5% Min-0.77%
Carbine Damage: 301-785
Elemental: Cold
Carbine Elemental Damage: 54

Initial Combine
Appearance max Damage Modifier: 29%
Appearance max Damage Modifier: 29%

Damage: 316-817
Weapon DPS: 1123

After Experimentation:
Appearance max Damage Modifier: 94% (8 points, Amazing Success)
Appearance max Damage Modifier: 70% (5 points, Amazing Success)

Damage: 322-827
Weapon DPS: 1136

Does anyone have any ideas where this weapon is failing, it seems to me that this weapon should be closer to cap than it is and I cant figure out where it is falling down.

You should use Tibanna Gas cartridges instead of the generic ones. You'd likely be able to make up quite a bit of DPS there.

I think he is using the tibanna gas cartridges. Last I remember (and my memory is like swiss cheese lateley :)) the orveth gas cartridge Max is 1.0%, tibanna gas cartridge Max is 1.5%

Besides, I have never had much improvement in DPS when experimenting on the appearance. Most of your DPS gain is in the core build. Make sure that you are getting your amazings there.

But like I said, this is all based on my opinion, not serious research.

Umm, only thing I can think of is the appearance. Try going higher on the max dmg than 94% if you can. That's the only thing I can see that may be holding the dps values down. I'm at work and can't pull up the official game forums, what does Nebaf's weapon spec thread list the "dps cap" at?

No, it's definitely because he's using an Orveth instead of a Tibanna. Tibanna's are 3.0 max.

Indeed that was the problem, I still have a few problems with capping but that are mainly resources.

I also keep getting strange results when I build weapons with Augmentations that I don't understand as the dps comes out lower (min damage always comes out a lot lower than usual) than if I don't use them even with the same experimental success rate, however this has to be something I am doing I am just not sure what.
